Summit Mentoring Team wins 1st Place in Computational Biology at TXSEF 2025

On Saturday, March 29, the Summit Mentoring science fair team of seniors Abhiram Jyosyula, Oduna Akonzee, and Avaneesh Parasnis won 1st place in the Computational Biology category of the Texas Science and Engineering Fair 2025. Their project, titled “HMM & Structural Docking In Silico Framework for Identifying & Inhibiting CCN3 Protein Pathway Mutations in Osteosarcoma,” used mathematical modeling and simulations to find mutations in the CCN3 protein that undermine ligand binding.

Abhiram will be attending Rice University in the fall. Oduna will be attending Cornell University in the fall. Avaneesh will be attending the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
